Celaenia excavata (Bird-dropping spider)

Although classified in the family Araneidae, better known as Orb-weaver spiders, the Bird-dropping spider does not build a web to trap its prey. Instead, it releases a scent that mimics the pheromone emitted by the females of certain moths, thereby attracting misled males of the same moths, which the spider then seizes.
