Beyond the known range limit for onychophorans in Oz. Closest known record is for Dactylothele habros, but still a good 100k away. Very likely a new species.

Onychophora sp. (phylum)

Accepted. This was an isolated specimen, about 200m from an area dense with D. ampliatum. In amongst the latter were a few small plants, same stage of development, but averaging about 20% smaller than the others (height, size of flower, etc). Given previous ID of the current sighting, I had assumed that these might also be D. reflexum, but was uncertain, especially as the range of D. reflexum does not seem to extend to this location.

Great thanks. A number of them were burnt so will be good to monitor them post-fire for recruitment.

Thanks Matt, there never seems to be much else left than the claws from the ones I've seen so far but will keep looking. Have you got a link to some good illustrations or images of the gastric mill and where it is?
