Yeah perhaps *L. ericoides* as Ciaran has suggested, but i have not learned all south–eastern NSW *Leucopogon* spp. and their circumscriptions so as to recognise if i see a new species to Eu–origin Au science (or an ususual form or taxon).
That higher level of systematics knowledge i have in SE. Melb. from my 1980s–1990s life and pro. work experiences;
and am well on the way to working up, here in Yalanji Bubu [Country] (in the Wet Tropics – NE. Qld).

I have lived for years in each of far east Vic., the Illawarra and south–coast NSW, in northern SydVegas and Newcastle and 1 year in Canberra,
so i know some plants' spp. but not all and not at that higher systematics level.
I am friends and contatcs with people who do so in each of these regions.

Yes, probably. It was a small withered plant in the middle of the track so not a lot to go on although I sat and contemplated for a long time.
